Night Safari

Back with Tour East for our final Singapore excursion - a Night Safari with dinner. A 30 minute bus ride to the north of the island brought us to the 'jungle' next door to Singapore Zoo. Dinner first - a perfectly adequate buffet meal with expensive drinks - and then the evening started. A troupe of fire eaters from Borneo performed a 15 minute show before we set off on our electric trams into the jungle. We went to the first stop and then alighted for one of the optional strolls before rejoining another tram to complete the journey. I was disappointed mainly, I think, because it was oversold. It was interesting but not the exciting adventure that was advertised and the guides' reactions each time we rounded another bend to be amazed by yet another group of bored animals grated very quickly. Having said that watching the flying foxes, mouse deer and porcupines at close quarters was good. However the highlight was having my toes nibbled by the doctor fish.
